“The love of money is the root of evil.” That quote was shared a lot during my upbringing. I would hear it often while living in a religious home. I have discovered years later that there’s a lot of truth in that statement.
Loving money can become obsessive. People spend their entire lives pursuing money and it often if not always leaves a void. Money is not evil. I do not believe that, but watching people become obsessed with the pursuit of money is what I find distressful.
I have always been fascinated with money and I did and still do get a thrill from the exchange of money, but when you realize money is merely an exchange of goods and services it begins to lose its allure. If you lose the money you can always just gain some more by finding ways to make the exchange. Money is also about finding a store of value that will build over time. That’s incorruptible money.
Fiat money is very corruptible. If you want your money to become incorruptible you need to find ways to get it out of the traditional system that people preach to you. Commodities and Real Estate were two great places to find a store of value. Real Estate would also if done right creates cash value, which makes it appealing to many. Commodities were a place to invest knowing that the bubble would always pop.
We are definitely in the information or digital age. With this, we are seeing the emergence of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I am very much skeptical of cryptocurrency as much of it seems to be a pump and dump scheme the more that I evaluate it. Bitcoin is a different story. Bitcoin, much like commodities, has the ability to become a very incorruptible currency for people wanting to find a strong store of value.
